School Library Advisory Council (SLAC)
What is a SLAC?
A Student Library Advisory Council (SLAC) is a group of parents and community members, appointed by the school district, to serve at the district level and provide guidance on library materials.
The SLAC ensures that decisions about library resources are made with the best interests of students in mind. By bringing together diverse voices from the community, the council helps create a library collection that supports student learning, fosters a love of reading, and reflects the values of our schools and families.
SLAC provides an effective structure for reviewing library resources, making thoughtful decisions about materials, and ensuring that our libraries remain safe, engaging, and enriching spaces for every student.
