TEA Releases 2018-2019 School Report Cards

The school report card (SRC) combines accountability ratings, data from the Texas Academic Performance Reports (TAPR), and financial information to give a broad view of campus performance. Available for each campus in Texas, the SRC is intended specifically to inform parents and guardians about a school’s individual characteristics and its academic performance.

School meals are available to all RES and RIS students at no charge

Rockdale ISD announced a change to its policy for serving meals to children served under the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program for Rockdale Elementary and Rockdale Intermediate Schools for the 2019 - 2020 school year. Schools qualifying to operate the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) provide breakfast and lunch to all children at no charge and eliminate the collection of meal applications for free, reduced-price, and paid student meals. This new approach reduces burdens for both families and school administrators and helps ensure that students receive nutritious meals.

2019-2020 Academic School Calendar

RISD Board of Trustees has approved the calendar for the upcoming school year. The first day of school is August 15, 2019 and graduation is May 29, 2020. Click here to view the new calendar.

PRESS RELEASE: Alternative Graduation Requirements

RISD school board members have approved alternative graduation requirements for students who entered high school before the 2011-2012 school year but did not graduate because they did not pass all parts of the TAAS or TAKS standardized test.

Plans for Rockdale Christmas Roundup are now underway. Applications can be picked up at the Rockdale Reporter, Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library, One-Stop Center, Citizens National Bank, Classic Bank, Rockdale Federal Credit Union, Rockdale Chamber of Commerce, Rockdale City Hall and local churches.

STAAR Report Card

Parents can access their child’s results using a unique access code, which can be found at the bottom of their child’s STAAR Report Card. Parents can also view the assessment questions, their child’s answers to the questions, and correct answers and rationales. Additionally, parents can view their child’s performance relative to the campus, district, and state. Contact your campus if you have any questions.

The track at Tiger Stadium will not be available to the public from May 25 through June 4. Warranty repair work and resurfacing will take place due to excessive and heavy rain since construction.

Survey for Early Childhood Services in Texas

The Texas Early Learning Council (TELC) is conducting a statewide survey to better understand the needs and challenges of those accessing, providing, and supporting early childhood programs and services in Texas.The survey is open until Friday, April 5, 2019 and should take no more than 20 minutes to complete. Questions intended for families and early childhood program and service providers are available in both English and Spanish. The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension and the Rockdale Independent School District are partnering to present Alcohol and Drug Trends Awareness. All parents, guardians and community members are invited to attend this presentation on Tuesday February 12th in the Rockdale Junior High Commons beginning at 6:30 p.m. (Immediately following the Rockdale PTO meeting). Everyone is encouraged to attend and become aware of the many alcohol and drug trends, and recognize the signs of alcohol and drug related problems. Presenters will provide examples from local establishments that promote our youth to use alcohol or drug paraphernalia. Please do not miss this very important presentation. Flu Shots will NOT be administered to students

ATTN PARENTS - Flu Shot Update:
Little River Healthcare will not be administering Flu Shots this year for Rockdale ISD students as originally planned, so it will be necessary for parents to make arrangements with another provider for your child to receive their Flu Shots. Rockdale ISD regrets this inconvenience.
