The Extended Walk Zone will now be on a bus route. Students who intend to ride the bus now should complete the Bus Rider Form.
Rockdale ISD is pleased to announce that we have secured an additional driver so students in the extended walk zone will now be on a bus route. This will also allow us to reduce the numbers riding each bus and get students home a little earlier. Changes will affect several routes so please check the list below to see if your stop has changed. This change will be effective on Monday, September 12.
Extended Walk Zone Riders - Complete this form to ensure our routes are as efficient as possible. BUS RIDER FORM
Also, keep in mind that by adding this route back, we still will not have a substitute when someone is out. In those cases, students may be asked to ride a different bus on a temporary basis. Students will only be allowed to ride on the assigned bus - no passes will be approved. Thank you for your patience as we do our best to get all our students to school and home safely.
UPDATED BUS ROUTES (9/12/2022)
Breakfast and lunch will be free to all students for the 2022-2023 school year.
Rockdale ISD Child Nutrition department has announced the district will provide free meals for all students for the 2022-23 school year. The meals will include one entrée, one choice of milk and student’s choice of fruit and vegetables for both breakfast and lunch. Second meals, additional entrées and milk, and any à la carte snack items are still available for a charge.
The district qualified for the free meals under the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). RISD is reimbursed using a formula based on the percentage of students categorically eligible for free meals based on participation in other specific means-test programs, such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF).
Erin Lopez, General Manager of the RISD Child Nutrition department, stated “because all students receive meals at no charge, individual children at CEP schools no longer have to worry about the stigma associated with free or reduced price status. And most importantly, by offering all students a nutritious breakfast and lunch at no cost, CEP helps boost participation, helping schools ensure more students come to class well-nourished and ready to learn.”

ParentSquare allows parents and guardians in RISD to receive all of their communications from the district in one unified app and service.
Rockdale ISD will launch ParentSquare—a simple and unified school-to-home communication platform—to reach and engage every parent, helping ensure all parents have the opportunity to actively participate in their children’s education. ParentSquare will be available in August for staff and parents to use on their computers or mobile devices.
By unifying multiple tools into one communications app and service, ParentSquare provides a seamless experience for parents and staff. Parents will be able to keep track of news, activities and events from all their children’s schools in one place.
Rockdale ISD hopes that ParentSquare’s intuitive, two-way platform will foster greater communication and family involvement. With ParentSquare, parents can enjoy photos posted by teachers, fill out forms and permission slips, sign up for parent-teacher conferences, check grades and attendance, and much more. School staff and parents can engage in both one-to-one and group messaging with real-time language translation.
“Effective school-to-home communication has never been more important, which is why Rockdale ISD adopted the ParentSquare communication platform. We’re looking forward to reaching 100% of our families no matter where they are, unifying all our communications tools, and adopting a more eco-friendly approach by reducing the amount of paper used to send important communications,” said Superintendent, Dr. Denise Monzingo.

Rockdale ISD is looking for members for our School Health Advisory Council.
The group is charged by the Texas Education Agency to provide support for an age-appropriate health education program, as well as early intervention and prevention strategies that can easily be supported by local families and community stakeholders. Recent legislation has put a great deal of new responsibility on the SHAC so we will focus on training and review of these new expectations at our meetings. We will also have various community organizations come speak to the SHAC and provide opportunities for you to ask questions and share your thoughts.
We will offer remote attendance but encourage in-person participation when possible. Our meetings will be at 4:30 pm, 4 times a year. If you are interested in participating in these meetings, please contact Pam Kaufmann at firstname.lastname@example.org or call at 512-430-6000 X1014.
